The Dutch Advisory Board
'Diseases such as the HIV virus, where uninformed people wrongly judge, avoid and exclude others, tear homes, families and communities apart. THIS disease can only be beaten by involving everybody, and by ensuring that the necessary information is provided and this can only be done WITHIN the community, IN the home and IN the family.' Prof. dr. Ivan Wolffers Professor in Health Care & Culture VU-University Amsterdam
'Adherence to the HIV medication (also compliance) is of the great importance for the HIV disease management. This may well be the biggest challenge in the Surinam project, not only for the children and families involved, but for the professionals as well. We, at the Children's Department fully subscribe to the importance of this exceptional project and are honored to be supporting it.' Dr. Henriëtte Scherpbier Paediatrician and HIV specialist Emma Children's Hospital AMC
Living in small societies such as Paramaribo, we strongly believe that children with the HIV virus should not be treated seperately. Because of the relatively low numbers of children with the HIV virus [in Surinam] it should also be preferred to support all children with chronic diseases and not group only. This is - in fact - the big advantage compared to countries where the numbers are much higher. Drs Wilco Zijlmans Paediatrician Diakonessenhuis Surinam

Organisation
After an startup period of approxiametely six months, Sharedfutures was formally established on 5 May 2006 as a public benefit organisation under the laws of The Netherlands.
Board of Directors The Board of Directors consists of three persons: Monique Faverey (founder/director), Nel Quispel (director) en Martine Willekens (director).
The founders’ motivation With more than 14 years in the financial world as a transaction lawyer, Monique decided that she wanted to be involved with children with HIV/AIDS, since the future of these children would never be as bright as the future of those children without the virus. The world had forgotten about these kids. Having grown up in Surinam, she automatically chose the Caribbean as the focus region. She cherishes her childhood memories in Surinam and understands how wonderful and carefree the early years of childhood can be. It is her desire to help these children to have a wonderful youth as well. She decided that she would only contribute if this could be done in a professional and result driven manner. It is for that reason that she chose to establish a venture philanthropy organisation.
Advisory Board The Advisory Board will provide guidance and governance to the organisation, and help it successfully achieve its goals. The Board will consist of individuals with different expertise and backgrounds. Our board now consists of 3 advisors: Ivan Wolffers, Henriette Scherpbier and Wilco Zijlmans.
